Auto Border

VDB Actions

The VDB AutoBorder ™ series will create beautiful clean borders for your images, and works with any aspect ratio. It will automatically crop your image if the aspect ratio is different from the output you request. AutoBorder lets you have even or uneven borders, lets you choose whatever size output you like, at any resolution. We created a set of scripts to use AutoBorder for common output sizes, and we have complete documentation if you are inclined to customize the scripts to your special needs.

New for August, 2007: By popular request, we expanded the set of scripts and actions, and grouped them into 4 different action sets. There is an individual action set for 100 dpi, 240 dpi, and 300 dpi. All have the same common image sizes and border combinations, but have a different resolution output. The 100 dpi action set is useful for web images. 240 dpi is commonly used for printing to inkjet printers, and 300 dpi is commonly used for output to photo services.

In addition to all these actions, each set has 4 "user" actions and scripts for your use, and there is an additional separate "user" action set as well. These are all provided to let you quickly create actions to suit any specific needs you have.

VDB AutoBorder is the only automated solution to your bordering needs.

Samples

Here is the original image (resized to 400x600 for this page). It was taken with a Canon 30D, so it is already in a 2:3 (4x6) aspect ratio.
