The Soft Edges and Vignettes action set from Vandenberg ImageWorks is the smart way to make consistently attractive, soft borders and vignettes for your images.
Where this action set excels is it's use of script to control the Gaussian blur needed to make the softness. Edges, borders, and vignettes are typically something done as the last step in the production process -- after resizing and sharpening for final output. If you work with images of varying dimensions (eg, web & print), this blurring step requires you to make guesses for the amount of blur needed to make an attractive soft edge or vignette.
Our action set calculates the amount of blur required depending on the image dimension, and does it all automatically for you. So an image sized for print, and a corresponding copy for the web, look identical.
